Ad-air® Technology Applies to a Broad Spectrum of Thermoformed Products

Benefits for your bottom line…

  • Lower Material Costs. High-yield process uses as little as 20% of the material required to form traditional solid plastic products.
  • Make Your Products More Competitive and Green By Moving To Sustainable Plastics.  Stand out as an environmental category leader by using sustainable plastics in your products and/or packaging, at an economical price point.
  • Reduce, Reuse, Recycle. Getting more from less is not just about improving your bottom line by lowering costs, it also means using less of the limited resources from our planet. Expanded plastics using Ad-air® technology do just that.
  • Use 100% Recycled Material. Produce products using recycled PET and re-process your trim.
  • Adaptable to Your Line.  Our patented technology can be retrofitted to your existing production line.  Often, your same thermoform tooling can be used with Ad-air® expanded polymers.

…and your products.

  • Thermal Insulation: Plastics processed with our technology have low thermal conductivity that enables “the hot to stay hot, the cool to stay cool.”  Therefore, recycled plastic from water and soda bottles can be made into insulated hot and cold beverage cups, or insulating, microwavable, heat-and-eat packaging.
  • Increased PET Service Temperature: PET processed with our technology can maintain its integrity at higher temperatures (up to 300 degrees F).  Therefore, products such as microwavable, heat-and-eat meal trays can be made with PET and sustain the temperatures.
  • Lightweight: Products made from plastics processed with Ad-air® technology have reduced weight while maintain their engineered functionality. This has huge implications for applications in the automobile and aircraft manufacturing industries.
  • Impact/Strength Performance: Plastics processed with our technology can be designed to meet the impact performance requirements for a given application. For instance, they can withstand the freezer-to-microwave demands of frozen food trays where impact performance at low temperatures and thermal performance under microwaving are crucial.
  • Surface Characteristics:
Light Reflectivity: Plastics processed with our technology reflect diffused light, making them ideal for printing. In addition, electronic signs and displays made with expanded plastics can save energy by making lower energy light sources brighter.
Design Texture: Packaging engineers can design the surface texture to achieve the desired look and texture of high gloss, silky, matte, semi-gloss, and more.
Printability: Our highly controllable bubble microstructure can be tailored for optimal printability and used in products such as cups and packaging that require a high quality printing surface.
  • Flexural Stiffness: Our technology maintains the flexural stiffness of the plastic while improving material yield.
  • Electrical properties: With our technology we can tailor the dielectric property of the material by reducing its density. In fact, our technology can control densities and cell sizes to within one percent. Low-density  ESD packaging that was produced using Ad-Air® technology was shown to retain the anti-static properties of the base material.
