About MicroGREEN Polymers

Expanding Plastics for Economy & Sustainability

MicroGREEN Polymers is on a mission to give the plastics industry and the world environmentally sound plastics technologies with substantial economic advantages.

MicroGREEN Polymers Inc. was incorporated September 11, 2002, in Washington State (“Micro” derived from the microcellular technology and “green” from the eco-friendly nature of the technology).  The founders, Greg Branch and Krishna Nadella, were working on advanced degrees at the University of Washington in the field of microcellular polymer manufacturing.  They continued technology development and negotiated with the University of Washington to license existing patents.

Over the last 7 years, MicroGREEN’s management team accomplished a number of important objectives, including:

  • Successfully producing a deep-draw, insulated hot-drink cup using 100% recycled PET (rPET).
  • Obtaining exclusive rights to three University of Washington patents, and has since developed additional technologies for which patents are pending in 20 countries. The Company currently has patent protection for its technology in the US, Europe and Japan.
  • Obtaining four Washington state research grants providing support for research valued at over $300,000. These research grants resulted in significant new intellectual property relating to MicroGREEN’s core technology.
  • Signing the Company’s first royalty-bearing license with a Japanese company in January 2005.
  • Continuing negotiations with many plastic product manufacturers and converters to make its technology available through licensing arrangements.
  • Setting-up a commercial scale contract manufacturing resource in Green Bay, Wisconsin.
  • Obtaining an NSF SBIR grant for $150,000.
